Inspiration for Silver and Gladiolus Study
I began painting Silver and Gladiolus Study as part of the Strada 30-Day Painting Challenge. For this event, artists had to work from life every single day throughout the month. Achieving a “finished” piece wasn’t the goal—practice and discipline were. It surprised me just how difficult it was to complete the challenge; even doing something we love can become a strain when schedules, fatigue, and repetition have to be overcome! The subject here is my Wife’s silver sugar bowl: one piece of a beautiful set by M.W.M. Rogers that set she owns. (I love my Wife’s appreciation of beautiful, delicate objects like tea sets and crystal!) She bought this particular silver years ago because it reminded her of the tea set her Mom had when she was growing up. 🙂
