Inspiration for Green Mountain Farm Plein Air

It took me quite some time to put those final little touches onto Green Mountain Farm Plein Air. I’ve said it before, but some paintings simply have to percolate a bit before coming to completion. (Even if “a bit” means several years!) Originally the overall composition, especially in the foreground, dissatisfied me. Instead of fussing with it immediately, I put it on the drying racks for later contemplation. However, life events (moving residences, moving studios, marriage—you know, little things like that) prohibited revisiting this piece until much, much later. But it was well worth the wait: I found solutions to both composition and foreground, and I’m quite pleased with the final iteration!
