Inspiration for Clouds Over the Bay Plein Air

I love the Golden Hour on the beach, like here in Clouds Over the Bay Plein Air. I could paint out there every single day. Sometimes as the cooler weather sets in, the clouds seem to grow prettier and puffier compared to sweltering midsummer. Or maybe I just feel that way because summer in Pensacola mostly has massive thunderstorms instead of pretty, scattered clouds. At any rate, these sorts of cumulous are a joy to paint. Clouds actually contain many colors, especially at this time of the afternoon. Take a second look next time you might be tempted to say “clouds are white!” 🙂
