Inspiration for Dominique the Thespian 1

Dominque is a wonderful model who sits regularly for the Wednesday morning portrait study group. He aspires to be an actor, and has a wonderful presence. I’d vouch for his voice and decorum, although I’ve never seen him act in person! He’s a super nice guy and, almost more importantly to an art group trying to accomplish a painting study, he holds very still. I sure hope he gets his big break soon!

I painted this particular study entirely with a palette knife. Focusing on this important, unique, but unpredictable painting tool really helps an artist get a handle on its use.
