A Sure Hope | 12×16 | Oil on Linen
Inspiration for A Sure Hope
I started painting A Sure Hope en plein air at St. Michael’s Cemetery in downtown Pensacola. The King of Spain officially designated the land as a cemetery in 1807, but the area was already being used as such throughout the mid-to-late 18th century. Although initially assigned to the Catholic inhabitants of Pensacola, people of all faiths have been buried here.
