Inspiration for Sunny Russell-Lee
Sunny Russell-Lee comes from a summer trip to central Florida. Solely because of its delightful teal cabin, the shrimp boat Russell-Lee merited the honor of starring in not one, not two, but three works! In this iteration, I particularly wanted to include some of the foreground brick-a-brack of other working boats along the edge of the Anclote River in Tarpon Springs. The little varieties of shapes, textures, lights, and darks, was really fascinating…although to a detail-noticing perfectionist like myself, it can be maddening to work on such subjects en plein air. I just see it all and want to paint it! This has led to more than several botched studies and rather painful sunburns. 😀
