Inspiration for St. Augustine Idyll Plein Air

After spending the afternoon up to my knees in the Atlantic (because of my naïve disregard for tidal forces), and since the day had turned into one of those perfect, sunny, breezy beach afternoons, I was feeling completely chill and so set up my easel well back from the surf and painted a classic, calm seascape. I enjoyed painting the reddish tinge the sand has on the eastern seaboard: we have sugar-white sand on the Gulf Coast.
