Heart Lake Incandescence | 11×14 | Oil on Linen Panel

Inspiration for Heart Lake Incandescence

The fog depicted in Heart Lake Incandescence glowed brilliantly over the still, early-morning water. My buddy, fellow artist TJ Cunningham, and I had traveled to the Adirondacks to do some painting. (He’s originally from Vermont, so he functioned as our regional guide.) We had hiked the mountain overlooking the lake on the previous day, and had barely evaded a rainstorm on the summit! Normally, we probably would’ve slept in the next morning (it had been a serious vertical hike). But we had a mission to plein air in the high peaks, and by golly, that’s what we did!
