Bitten Apple Study | 6×8 | Oil on Linen Panel

I don’t think Bitten Apple Study was inspired by the Apple logo…but then again, I AM a pretty big fan! I really just thought it would be a fun study, especially with the colors. When we think of apples, we usually do only think of red. But look again: do you see the greens and blues in the shadows of the bite? Not to mention the blues, purples, and greens of the shadow cast by the fruit! These sorts of color nuances can be detected and translated into pigment by the artist’s trained eye—and it can bring the painting to a truer level of realism than a photographer’s camera!
