Asian Lady Study | 6×8 | Oil on Linen Panel
Inspiration for Asian Lady Study
I painted Asian Lady Study during the Wednesday morning portrait group that I love attending. The model held very still, which is very desirable for the artists…and very difficult for the sitter! We had two light sources shining on her: a “daylight” fluorescent bulb from the left and a traditional incandescent bulb from the right. Using dual light sources presents a much greater challenge, partly because of the lack of defined shadows, and partly because of the subtle color shifts the lights produce across the form. But if handled correctly, the effect can be really lovely! Hopefully I’ve had some success here. 😉
