Inspiration for Adirondack Autumnal
The time spent in New York, where I painted Adirondack Autumnal, represents the closest I’ve come to seeing full-blown Fall colors. Here, you can just begin to see the hints of orange, red, and purple peeking through the green of the birch foliage. I’ve always loved birch trees. Their trunks’ stark white contrasts so wonderfully against other colors in the landscape! And the way their bark peels is so neat—makes me think of Native American canoes. I have to admit that the fox didn’t actually make an appearance during my painting time from life. But he seemed such a perfect fit for the scene. And my Wife loves little animals, so there you have it. 😉
